I’ve heard about White Banana Siargao before since it is known as one of the best sunset spots on the island, making it a must-visit in every Siargao itinerary. It is owned by Gianluca Casaccia, popularly known as Jimi, an Italian who has been living in the country for a few years now.
What to try at White Banana Siargao
I only tried one cocktail (I forgot the name), priced at about PHP 300 or more. I was craving mojito really bad, so I asked the staff if there was something similar to it.
Honestly, you’ll want more of this mix if you’re a fast-drinker like me. It packs quite a punch despite the small glass, but still a bit pricey so it’s not something I’d have two or more glasses of.
My flight was at 4 PM the next day so I decided to eat lunch here, too—although it was technically a brunch meal.
In case you didn’t know, White Banana Siargao serves a pescatarian menu, which means they specialize in faux meat or fresh fish. I ordered the breakfast favorite Tapsilog (PHP 250) to see if they can pull off the taste despite being meatless.
Tapsilog’s faux meat is made from tofu, marinated in a special sauce that is so close to regular tapa meat.
The “meat” was a little too salty with a slightly sweet kick, but the sunny-side-up egg neutralized its taste. The egg was a bit burnt, though.
I can confidently say that White Banana is ideal for a chill time—morning or night. The small bean bags will make you want to take a siesta right after eating.
The view will never disappoint you, and they have accommodating staff to attend to your needs.
Another bonus is that White Banana has acoustic nights (almost every night) so expect live performances, gently serenading you with songs from different genres. You can also perform as you please!
Take note that you have to remove your slippers and sit on the floor should you choose to dine inside. They also have outside seating to get a full grasp of the beachside experience.
White Banana is located at Tuason Beach, Tourism Rd, Brgy. Catangnan, General Luna, Siargao. They’re open all week from 7:30 AM to 11 PM.
